Wood Rot Repair and General Repairs

Over the past 20 years, we have perfected methods that are time tested and yield beautiful, lasting results. Most wood window components can be replaced, and we can make new parts to match with an extensive collection of matching profiles. We also use epoxies designed for historical preservation. These repairs, combined with an understanding of the processes behind wood decay, are a great and effective solution to what most homeowners think are hopeless situations. Don't replace, repair correctly! Also, in the case that it’s too far gone, we can make a new one to match.

Window Glazing/Putty and Glass

Over time, glazing putty naturally dries out and has to be replaced. On top of that, a majority of older putty jobs are just unsightly and hardly resemble a proper job.  As more and more windows are made using aluminum and vinyl exteriors, window putty has become a dying art. We use traditional putties made to last, combined with 20 years experience and thousands of windows puttied. We also stock antique restoration glass (and modern glass) to match glass that would be in older windows and doors.

Painting and Finishing

Combine quality materials with proper technique and your windows will be both protected and beautiful.

Restoration and Preservation

Restoring and repairing old and historical windows is a passion of ours and makes up a majority of our jobs. Once restored and maintained, they can last another lifetime.  Whether its a total restoration of your homes old windows or a historical building needing to follow historic guidelines, that’s what we do. This is where we post some of our project galleries too.

Weatherstripping and Sealing

Add traditional spring bronze weatherstripping to your doors including traditional bronze interlocking thresholds. Weatherstrip your old wood windows with traditional bronze or zinc weatherstripping, or retrofit them with new vinyl or silicone.

Millwork

We have a fully functioning millwork shop outfitted with many older machines that were themselves used to make both historic and modern windows. We make windows and doors using traditional methods and traditional joinery, along with an extensive collection of knife profiles that match historical and modern window sash. We also make traditional screens and storms for older windows and doors.

Jamb Pulleys and Balance Systems

There have been many balance systems to come and go over the years, settling on vinyl jamb liners for the past 20-30 years (unfortunately). We change sash cord, weights, and service some older balance systems. Many older balance systems, including aluminum spring tracks and spiral balances, can be swapped out for more traditional Pullman tape balances pictured below. They offer a traditional and more elegant look when there are no weight pockets in the framing around the window or if something nicer is wanted. We install them often.
